@judgmentoftherain: Ah! Very good points, indeed! Believe it or not, I was explaining that exact same thing about age gaps, BDSM and power dynamics in some Facebook group recently. Age gap relationships, especially when combined will DDlg, tend to work more like the traditional relationships of old. Traditional and more conservative relationships statistically last longer and are more successful because of the clear roles the couple assume. The power dynamics are clear. The individuals know who is the dominant and who is the submissive one. There's no competition like in most modern couples who share the same age. And no, when I say clear roles, I don't refer to gender. As long as one is dominant and the other submissive, things work out. Well, communication is vital for a relationship, and an age gap will make you put in the effort. In fact, it might be more successful than a relationship with similar ages where they just assume they're on the same page.

I have. I'd prefer NOW after being in one to liking people closer to my age. Citrus had a short-term relationship with an age gap at the start, but anything with a prevailing storyline isn't coming to mind. Gib me those recommendations. I was in an age gap relationship for 4 1/2ish years. He was 9 years older than me. I don't want to get TOO personal with it though so any questions please be mindful.

@Sleepy Fur: The only anime with a main plot centered around an age gap is "After the Rain" (Koi wa Ameagari no You ni). SPOILERS: It starts off as an age gap romance but it then turns into a story of 2 individuals following their dreams. Still, it's a wonderful story which brought many memories of past experiences to me and made me cry. One other anime with a similar sub-plot is Ristorante Paradiso. It features an even bigger age gap and it has a happy ending too. Then there's Usagi Drop, which unfortunately, never got a second season. According to the manga, the relationship between the main characters turns into romance later. But, we never got to see it. The same studio that brought us After the Rain, also gave us The Ancient Magus' Bride. Which can be considered an age gap romance too, albeit with a Beauty and the Beast twist. I've also been told that Scum's Wish features such a relationship, but I haven't yet watched it. As for me, I had a 15 year gap between me and my significant other and against all odds we made it work for 5 1/2 years. She's 25 this year. I hope she's happy, wherever she is... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBS2X3wC-HY

i want someone at the same maturity level as i am who is also y'know 18 and older thank you maturity matters a lot more than age but age is a good proxy for figuring that out

Depends on ages and life experience in my opinion but I feel they can work. I can understand some wanting to stick closer to their own ages though.
