Hahaha coincidentally, I got that clip from ATLA downloaded on my computer due to how iconic and wise it is. That scene definitely left me in awe.
"There's a difference between learning from your mistakes and obsessing over what you can't control." are words more people should live by and something a lot of teens to middle-aged people particularly could benefit from hearing....there's too much self-pity and overthinking.
Complete control over one's life (or anything for that matter) is impossible. Plans are met with unforeseen obstacles and the wheel of luck/fortune. Control is an illusion (as you and Master Oogway said) in the long-run of things, but that doesn't mean we can't make a change or make our actions futile....just means we shouldn't be trying to be fixed on control out of fear or pride and make an effort with what we can do to spread some love around. Kindness breeds kindness...hate breeds hate...ignorance breeds ignorance....and the list goes on and on. And while others reactions to our own actions may not always result in how we think it will....it will give insights to what kind of person they are and are going through or have been through....but shouldn't be dwelled on if a negative outcome arises.
And yes, some people spend some much time working towards a goal, they don't enjoy or make the most of the present. The journey/adventure is just as important as the goal, if not ever more so. I believe the saying from that old turtle is that "the past is history, the future is a mystery, but today is a gift....that is why they call it present.", which pretty much goes perfectly with all your points.
Ain't got much to add to your optimistic wisdom. All this spiritual talk is reminding me of the chakras/chi lesson Guru Pathik gave in ATLA.

In every life, we have some trouble. But when you worry, you make it double. Don't worry. Be happy!

Huh. Interesting enough, the video was just recently removed by the user, despite being up for a very long time (I think). Weird.
