Toxic fandoms

Hmm not sure if Sonic fandom is toxic or really just VERY messed up. "Fun" game: google your first name + the hedgehog. NGE fandom is pretty hard to get into. It's one of my favorite thing ever, partly because it gets psychological and characters react somewhat realistically to trauma. This is actually a praised quality the anime has and it's something "everyone" agrees on. But like 95% of the fandom hate Shinji because he has trauma and self-esteem issues. That sound SLIGHTLY contradictory... oh and stop trying to decide who is the best girl please :/ FMA isn't especially toxic but every discussion is about which anime was best with the same rehashed arguments after 10 years. Nothing has changed. Rick and Morty is a fun show but so many people think they are actually smart because they are watching a cartoon about an extremely intelligent scientist. The jokes aren't hard to get at all, stop it you elitists! Season 3 was good. You all ruined Pickle Rick by screaming it everywhere. No don't order szechuan sauce at McDonald's *sigh* Furry fandom is terrible too. I really want to believe some of you are good folk and I know there are, but there is so many weird stuff I keep hearing about (rain furrest anyone?) and I've met a few furries online that were hiding they were furries because they were afraid of being judged and they said everything you hear about weird stuff is true.

@cupcake I read a Twitter once about the sauce thing, basically this guy started tweeting they he had the sauce and was giving samples to people for one dollar, I think it was Mayo sauce only hahaha yet the fandom was saying how exotic and sophisticated it tasted

Mario (fan drawn by fans in billions of shapes and styles) Sonic (despite being more toxic, Jimmy Kimmel and some Jeopardy contestants didn't know him nor his series) SpongeBob & Family Guy (since 1999, they are often used as inevitable meme material) Undertale, Five Night At Freddy's, Minecraft, Team Fortress 2, Fortnite, etc. (maybe others?)

The sonic fandom estranges me- having grown up with the character i'd estimate the changes started to happen around 04-05 (Yes I remember a deviant art free of the sonic creepypasta and other "creations"). It doesn't make sense to me because the fandoms attitude isn't "on brand" it doesn't fit the character or what it represented extended universe comics or otherwise. Apart from that LoL as mentioned. Overwatch/Fortnite. Naruto Fandom. Also the "new" Eva fandom. (I say new because it's drastically different from what it was when it first aired). Going outside to yell at clouds now.
