Who I am

kind of a follow-up to the post i made about a month ago, I figured it out, kinda. I am the kind of person to value not hurting someone over logic (sometimes), but that doesn't mean I won't stand up for my political beliefs. It's because my political views reflect who I am as a person, as they should. I figured out that, no matter what side of politics you are on, (oh god I'm going to regret saying this) it kind of comes down to your personal opinion, what side you're on I mean. Where you grow up matters, how you grow up matters, who you are as a person and what the world and people around you have made you into translates to your political beliefs/views. Now, I'm not saying flat-earthers are right, but what I am saying is that both on the left, and right hand side of politics there are people who are right. There are benefits and downsides to each. I live in the Netherlands, a member state of European Union. The European Union has to keep everyone happy. As someone who is in a debating group, I participated in EYP (european youth parliament), a sort of debating competition. You basically take a problem and try to solve it as well as you can. You play as the European Parliament, meaning you have to make very big decisions for a very large group of people. You can NEVER. EVER. make. everyone. happy. We are with too many people on the Earth for that to happen, which is why we'll have to take the middle ground that is presented to us, move on and accept what we have. (doesn't stop me from taking a side tho) To conclude my somewhat pretentious/presumptuous speech, I've figured out that true happiness lies in being the version of yourself that lies closest to yourself. I've also figured out my meaning of life, what I want to do in life, boosting my motivation to finish school. PS: learn to love yourself! edit: some grammar errors and stuff i didn't mean or something

You be the person you can be happy becoming. That is the only thing that you should do. Whether it's being honest to a fault with logic, or putting the feelings of another over it, no one can tell you what is right or wrong, with the person you are, but yourself. Politics is more complex, because some things Aren't opinions, I mean sure, someone can say one thing on one side of the political spectrum and believe it, but that doesn't make it true.(Women being oppressed in western society, cough cough.) However many things are opinion based in politics, for instance, The pro's and Con's of Socialism vs Capitalism, Authoritarianism vs Anarchy. Those are all things you can rationalize, and be opinion based. Where you grow up does matter on who become, but it's not the end all be all. And there are people who are two sides of the same coin, while on the opposite of the political spectrum. Just because I grew up poor doesn't mean it's more likely that I end up leaning on the right side of the spectrum like I do. Neither does personality. What does translate into politics, is your philosophy however. There are benefits to each side yes. That doesn't make being a centrist fully correct either(Coming from a centrist.), Nor does it mean one side is being rational about certain subjects. The middle ground is never always the best outcome, Sometimes it's more close to the left or the right. Being the best version of you, is what creates happiness, and don't ever let anyone tell you what that you is, but yourself. It's fantastic that you've learned what you want to do with your life and found motivation, Now the hard part comes, Keeping that motivation and staying consistent, to accomplish those goals you set out for. And all I can give you, is a Good Luck.

i ofcourse didn't mean to say that nurture => political beliefs, i meant to say that who you are as a person reflect your political beliefs. but you're right, your philosophy dictates your political beliefs. with most people though, i think their personality reflects most of their philosophy. i'm a bit on the left side of things, but there are things where i'm like: nah, right is right here :P when i think about politics, i try to take facts into account, but if emotion plays too big of a role, then i tend to not care about the fact as much.
