Horror anime doesn't scare me

Yeah it doesn't in anime for me either, but I like them. I don't watch any other horror stuff though, it just all seems really bad to me.

Imo I'm very resistant to being scared so I face a similar issue too. I praise stuff like Dead Space or the works David Kronenberg and John Carpenter but they don't scare me one bit, I'm fine with that though. I think the problem with the horror genre in general is that people making them thinks horror means blood and gore and jumpscares and darkness. That only works on "weaker" people but I'm not saying it's a bad thing to easily scared. Horror is a setting, you have to exploit fear. Horror anime from what I've seen is just monsters and gore and tons of blood, I dunno that's not horror to me, but at least anime doesn't try to jumpscare you. I heard Perfect Blue has shades of horror/fear in it but I haven't watch it yet. I'd suggest Junji Ito's mangas are unsettling but I heard the anime adaptations aren't too good.

I've watched a few "horror" anime trying to find a scary one but none of them are actually scarry imo. It doesn't help that I'm super desensitized to basically all horror. It's pretty boring, I haven't been scared by a movie or anything in a long time ;-;
