2018, Do you think online relationships can work out?

animekid
I will admit that I did not read all of Azure's comment which looked well-thought-out but that was partly because I did disagree with one thing. You can call it low intelligence thinking or whatever you like but all you need to be in a long distance relationship or any relationship is to want to be with a person. Whether you are financially stable in any relationship is irrelevant on the basic level. Whether the relationship will last is also slightly irrelevant in regards to your financial aspect. All you really need is to continue wanting the other person. You could be the best match in the world for someone but not fall for them. What's important is that you want the other person. Nothing else matters in comparison to that because you can't have a relationship unless you want and continue to want the other person. That aside, yes I think that they still can work but as many people here have said, you do need to have a lot of trust in the other person and loyalty between both.

I know for a fact they can work because two good friends of mine met here, moved in together, and got married. I do think however, there is a higher chance of failure without that face to face interaction. I've had online relationships in the past where I would put all my trust into them, take the initiative to make plans for visiting, all these things needed to make it work, only to have them disappear out of my life. It's very easy to disappear when your only line of communication with someone is through the internet, and it hurts when it happens.

Sounds like you're talking about arc and veru or maybe manga bird and sherflow. Also yeah it really does suck when that shit happens. I know where you're coming from

Tfw you ship 2 people together and they have been together ever since then, yet you still cant find anyone for yourself lol
richaadokun
Nah, an IRL friend of mine. She never really got too involved with the community here. She's actually the one who introduced me to this site. ^^;

What in an online relationship in this context? If you meet someone online then you date them IRL? Yes, absolutely. If you meet someone online and you make plans to go see them? It's hard but it could work. If you meet someone online and you want them to be your "super special 2d waifu online cutie gf" that you have no intention of ever meeting? No, that will never work and you should be flogged for wanting it.

I love how out of the three things that Neo said that the second one and the third one could be one in the same at times yeah he says you should be flogged for the third one even though it still could be the second one simultaneously because of how he worded it
neootaku
Okay. I want you to explain me how you can plan to meet with the girl and plan to only be in an online relationship at the same time.
animekid
Aha there you go, you didn't specify specifically that it would remain only online. You did say the words on my girlfriend but if your long-distance then you're still technically someone's online girlfriend or boyfriend lol.
neootaku
You are correct, I forgot to specify that it was absolutely only online. That being said with the second one specifying that you do plan to meet and the third saying online gf the distinction should be obvious regardless.
