lmao this fucking thread, are we really verbally attacking people and going for the old fearmongering tactic? 'Savage immigrants'? It's kinda funny because if you look back about 100 years ago or so, when blacks started moving out of the south to northern and western states for a better life as well strangely enough, they were met with the same vitriol. You saw some of the same talking points we're seeing being made present day with the immigrants from south of the border: "they're coming in masses, they bring crime, cities are being terrorized by savage negro brutes who rape white women...they're also stealing our jobs" more or less. :u
Well I guess the main difference here though is that they were actually American citizens, that and people could actually get away with lynchings, mass killings, razing communities to the ground, etc back then. I could only imagine what some people commenting in this thread would do if they could perform the same acts. Really makes me think about the true character of some of these people and no I'm not saying "let all immigrants in"
I personally think it's a problem also but it's a problem that should be handled with more subtlety and with care. But that's already out of the window. The fact that people are so heated about these immigrants is worrying honestly. People are having an image painted in their minds now and that image is of an 'enemy', the detestable 'other' that is part of the source of turmoil in your country, the enemy that you are have the right to dispose of, which you're entitled to berate and possibly attack if you see them on the street. It's worrying because people get heated easily when a group of people like this are given the spotlight. If we look at history, especially American history since it seems like our history was essentially the monster of the week. First it was the natives, then blacks, then the Irish, Italians, and other European immigrants, then blacks again because I guess at some point the other Europeans who were discriminated against got a permanent invitation to the white club, then the Japanese, then communists, then Muslims (yes I know they aren't an ethnic group but a religion. Americans don't know that though shhh), and now we're on immigrants from Central America. I feel like I'm forgetting something here but I hope people see my point here. This type of vitriol is dangerous, I'm not saying everyone is just prone to attacking people or some shit no. But I also can't guarantee that there WON'T be those types of people who feel like their actions fueled by hatred would have legitimacy and would accepted to some extent by society if they carry them out.
I just thought it was interesting how America's very short legacy has just been one of the constant hatred and fear of the 'other' it just seems to constantly repeat itself in some form, and then that goes away at some point of time and we forget about all of those events...ending up just teaching an abridged version of that chapter of our history to our kids: "Oh yeah, we did some fucked up shit to these people but then we had some bill passed that made it so we can't do fucked up shit to those people anymore so we're cool now. The end." :U

If it wasn't for immigrants, most of you wouldn't be born. Shut up. I'd have a legit debate about this but seeing as most of you are either bigots in training or trolling, what's the point?

Times have changed this is no longer the 18-1900s sure people are seeking better lives but imagine what several thousand people being added to america will do to the economy. It also isnt fair to the people who are trying to get in legally. If we let those guys in illegally then thst just says fuck the process for citizenship anyone can get in

They're Not even here yet. What are they doing illegal? They haven't even got to the border yet so nothing they did so far is illegal. They're allowed to travel just like you're allowed to travel. No one in the CARAVAN has done anything wrong. Someone (Fox news/orange in charge) claims that they're coming when not even he/they know where their final destination is. Over 1/2 the caravan is already gone. Shut up

If you're worried about people coming in bringing terror or bombs then why is nothing mentioned about our Canadian border which is how the 19 highjackers who caused 9/11 entered America, not thru Mexico?

Do you even know the process of getting a green card? Do you know how hard it is to apply?
I have family who have gone thru the process. It's not impossible, just really really hard. But you can't call people walking on line to apply for asylum illegal or threats to the economy. Just cause your inexperienced eye don't know what you're seeing doesn't mean they are anything but migrants. Whether they apply for asylum or citizenship is none of your business. If you focus on your own problems and leave them alone, you won't have to worry about anyone taking your job

Finding a job for some people is hard enough as it is, It gets really competitive. What will make it harder is that immigrants usually take whatever they can get. So if someone wants to run them into the ground for minimum wage or lower (cuz they dont know any better, and to them they think "wow this is more than back home") why would they choose you? Are you going to just ignore this and mind your own business? True its no more fair for them than it is you but we cant just let anyone into our country.
Its not just about economy but other factors play an important part in this. The government set these policies for a reason. If getting a green card was easy then anyone and their grandma can get one. Its hard for a reason, its tedious for a reason. If we just let anyone in our country then what stops those people from doing to our country what they did to theirs? They fled their country for a reason my dude. Im not blind im just looking at the bigger picture rather than focusing on one small portion that looks pretty. If you were getting a vaccine to cure a deadly disease and someone cut you in line how would you feel? The exact same way those people getting citizenship the right way would.

If you lose a job to a immigrant then you suck at your job and it's time to get a new one. Immigrants aren't taking corporate jobs or doctor's positions. They're picking fruit, construction, babysitting, jobs that most Americans don't want in the first place.
Americans have advantages over immigrants and if you lose your job or lively hood cause of em then you were in a shit place to begin with and need to stop blaming others for your poor work ethics or just poor ethics in general

And for the immigrants that DO take the cooperate jobs, they're not in that caravan. They're in Harvard on a student visa trying to get a degree.

"if someone wants to run them into the ground for minimum wage or lower" then you, as an American citizen, have the right and responsibility to report that job to the authorities and have that stop because it's illegal to hire people and pay them less than minimum wage. So either do your part and stop business from taking advantage of slave labor or shut this thing called the fuck up and continue on with your life
