Rape

ok normally I dont think that anecdotes have any place in a serious conversation. However, since people on here like to appeal to anecdotes, here's one that has appeared today on a different anonymous confessions thread: "#14444 I'm 21 years old, I'm a virgin. I've never kissed a girl, I've never held hands with a girl, I've never even hugged a girl outside of my own family. I've never drank alcohol or done any drugs. And yet I was still falsely accused of sexual assault. It was by far the scariest period of my entire life, knowing that I had worked so hard my entire life and now some woman I had never seen before was trying to ruin my life and there was nothing I could do about it, because nobody will believe a man accused of sexual assault. Even when all the character witnesses attested to my innocence, there were still those who refused to believe my innocence. I was one of the lucky ones because my accuser eventually did confess to having made it up, but the damage wasn't reversed, it can never be. My peers were all quick to spread the news that I had been accused but not when I was vindicated. I wish I was a rare case, I wish it was a fluke, but it was not. I know at least two other guys and one girl at my high school alone who were falsely accused of sexual assault or harassment, and those are just the ones I've heard of. Being falsely accused carries quite a stigma since there are those who still refuse to believe our innocence, who think that we must be guilty just because we were accused. And so we don't speak out about our false accusations, about the most traumatic time in our lives, for fear of still not being believed. And who is to blame for that? People like Katherine Stone, who openly tout "guilty until proven innocent" principles, and vilify anyone who views an accusation with skepticism. So forgive me when I say people like her represent a tremendous threat to society. Throwing innocent men in jail is not justice, it doesn't help actual victims, it's not feminism, and it's not a moral high-ground. I'd love to see you try to tell me to my face that I don't deserve to be believed, Katherine, that I should have been assumed guilty, that I don't deserve to hold a job because of the proven lies of one woman. But I have to stay anonymous, because otherwise I risk even more rumors being spread about me, even more lies. I can never be safe anymore, thanks to people like you, who don't care whether the truth is told, who don't care whether an accusation is legitimate or not, and don't care if innocent lives are lost. It's people like you who perpetuate my trauma and populate my nightmares. Fuck you." Maybe if you can see what the dangers are with the idea of "guilty until proven innocent", you wouldnt be so biased on the issue. Also @teacup please inform me what facts I dont have straight. Just provide a single example of a fact that you think I am mislead in.

Is there actually a 'guilty til proven innocent'? That sounds stupid, I've never heard of it, only innocent until proven guilty hence why in the UK Law, the prosecutor has to prove beyond reasonable doubt the defendant is guilty. It is so dangerous the other way around.
mioismywaifu
@Dazai no but it's what people are currently advocating for. I highly doubt it will ever become reality in the US because of how idiotic it is in theory

I agree with you, I really don't think "guilty until proven innocent" it will come into fruition, but the idea will probably get juggled around unhealthily. For how much certain agendas have been pushed in recent years, it actually sort of terrifies me that some of this stuff might slip through the cracks by some freak chance.

Also guys lets not forget the Me Too witch hunts that destroys innocent men as well. It's incredibly sad that it's come down to this. I'm not sure if you're familiar with a youtuber named Mr. Repzion. His ex accused him of sexual assault and took him to court. Mr.Repzion won the case big time because he showed the judge the texts she sent to him threatening to throw a false allegation his way. He dodged that bullet big time. Due to this Mr. Repzion has developed a fear for women. The scary thing is ANY woman can falsely accuse ANY man of sexual assault and it's game over for him evidence or no evidence, as Mioismywaifu mentioned. I honestly feel like we might reach a point where men and women are no longer allowed to interact with each other or people will immediately assume a woman is trying to screw a man over with a false rape allegation, when the woman is actually legit. We truly are living in dark times. @Muggleborn thanks for backing me up, I was getting jumped and insulted over my opinions. They were strong opinions, but opinions nonetheless. I appreciate you backing me up.

@Sailing Rape victims are usually believed whereas false rape victims are not. Raped victims have a plethora of resources to help them get through their trauma whether the accused is legit or not. False rape victims are forever ruined, not only psychologically but financially and their reputation is forever tarnished. They may get fired, beaten up or worse jailed for something they didn't do, they have no one to turn to for anything what's worse many false accusers go off Scott free or at best receive a slap on the wrist. Sadly I feel as though there is no real solution. IMO letting abusers legit or not go free is better than jailing one innocent. I know I was harsh with my opinions because how heated I was, but I'm more calm now. I still stand that I'd rather let guilty people go free than jail one innocent at least raped victims will have resources, whereas false rape victims do not. If enough evidence is presented to convict an actual rapist then bring it forth and it shall be appraised, that's why it's important to come forward sooner rather than later, because your chances of convicting someone is higher, plus it'll stop more potential rape victims, but if you wait too long and this person goes free I'm sorry, but you should've said something earlier. To protect innocent people from being jailed evidence needs to come forward. That's my stance and it is firm. We just have to agree to disagree.

@TheSailingTeacup: Now that's just disingenuous as all hell and you know it. False rape accusations are indeed bullshit, ones that are true deserve justice. However, I'm not going to perpetuate this standard that men should be thought of as guilty before being judged in a court of law. "Don't you see what's happening right now in this thread tho? Because this is exactly what happens and why women then hide in fear. The cases of men coming out (which you should if it's happened to you!) saying they were falsely accused is overshadowing the trauma and actual rape that is happening." Oh fuck you, seriously, fuck you and your victimization bullshit. All men are NOT fucking responsible for what happened in your past, there is ONLY ONE person responsible and that's the one who committed the act. You have zero right to belittle events that can ruin the lives of innocent people, that's honestly disgusting of you in every sense of the word. You're reminding me of that bimbo that was screaming at Flake in the elevator, "YOU'RE SAYING MY EXPERIENCES DON'T MATTER!!!" I'd suggest dropping this selfish victimization shit and start caring about others and their lives. Otherwise you're going to end up old and alone because others simply won't want to be around you.
