Chapter 1 – Hopes, Dreams and Childhood Friends Police Department of Moonglade, Evening “I know how much you like to worry about everything.” “That’s not… I’m not worried mom, it’s-” “Sandy you’re so much stronger than what you give yourself credit for. You need to take your life into your own hands and… go forth… or something… Oh boy, I’ve never been good at this sort of thing.” Sandy can’t help but draw and embarrassed smile on her face as she hears the reassuring words of her mother over the phone. She takes a quick glance at her wristwatch and jolts up from her chair, impatient. “Oooh… maybe this was a bad idea”. – she quietly mutters, careful to not let her mother ear her. Having exhausted every other avenue of calming her nerves, she mindlessly takes out a document from her handbag and reads through it aloud, as if unable to comprehend what it says. “Notice of transfer… Sandy Batters… exemplary service… to be reallocated… under the orders of Mariah Resso… what?” She let out a sigh, plainly aware that simply feigning ignorance wouldn’t take her out of such a predicament. What? No. Sandy was more curious as to “why”. What possible reason could there have been for her transfer; and to her hometown no less. Sandy bits her lips as the thought crosses her mind. Yes, this her hometown. She was indeed back in Moonglade. In a last ditch effort to calm herself, Sandy reaches for the semi opened windowed, and looks over the presented below her. The rhythm of the rainwater bouncing against the window, creating a soothing sound. Sandy closes her eyes, allowing the melody to overcome her thoughts. She loves the sound of the rain. And she loves this place too. This was, after all, the place she had one to swore to- “Sandy Batters?” She suddenly gets startled after hearing her name being shouted from behind her. She looks back. In front of her stands a tall woman with long reddish hair and squared glasses adorning seemingly stern face. She wears an impeccable police uniform, and her arms, is holding a mountain of what looks like important documents. “Sorry, did I scare you?” says the woman. Sandy attempts to answer, but is too overwhelmed by emotion to let out any coherent sound. That was Mariah Resso. Her very best friend since childhood. She hadn’t seen her in years! Screw her nerves! The only thing she could think about now was how much she’s missed her, and how much she wanted to just in her arms, hold her, and kiss her and… wait! Protocol. It would be unbecoming of her to behave in such a way when she’d been sent her with recommendations from her previous superiors. She would make them proud and… Mariah lets out a snicker, completely derailing her train of thought. “Oh Sandy, I see you’ve still got that weird habit of yours of making weird faces when you’re into your own planet.” They both quietly laugh for a second before Mariah makes her sign to follow her into the room next to them. They enter what seems to be some sort of office, where await two more individuals Sandy had dearly missed in her years away from Moonglade. One was blonde young man, standing in a corner of the room, arms crossed. He was tall, with good looks and was wearing the same uniform Mariah was. His name was Max Turner. Another of her childhood friends, but more importantly, her lifelong crush. He gave quick sign of the hand to greet her, and Sandy responded with a blushing smile. The other man, sitting down at the desk whilst reviewing some documents, was Mariah’s father Riccardo Resso. Lt. Resso in these walls. He had the same bright red hair as his daughter, however his was much more unruly, descending down on his tired face; the face of a man who was much more preoccupied by the quality of his work this his own health. However, the second he noticed the arrival of Sandy from the corner of his eyes, his face lit up, as fit powered by an unknown force. He stood up and made his way towards her. [I'll write more later, but I need to get home, as the office is closing. Let me know if this sounds interesting so far.]
