Vanilla is something I'm definitely going to lend time to when I'm not doing anything else, assuming they don't ruin it.

I get nervous because there are so many trolls on the official classic forums, and there was an incident recently where blizzard manipulated a topic by changing the title of someone's post that was pro no changes, into making less obvious he was pro no changes. I really just want it to be the exact experience, both the good and the bad, so I can enjoy the old game I liked as a kid. So many mechanic changes killed what this game originally was, this isn't to say the current game is terrible, but when I tried to get back into it it just felt too foreign... classes don't feel unique anymore, original talent tree replaced by some boring simplified pile of crap (in my opinion), too many things are account wide now... BoA gear ruins leveling alts, 500 million difficulty modes for the same content (it's like grinding greater rifts in Diablo 3, yaaaaawn), queing for dungeons and cross faction everything ruins not only a server's community, but it completely kills pvp realms since there's barely any need to travel anymore. There are so many game design decisions about vanilla that are amazing, and I hope if this turns into a great success, they look into these design philosophies for any potential future MMOs.

Getting a mount at level 40 tends to be a very huge concern for people in vanilla WoW (when they're not playing a warlock or paladin for a free one) as not having one at level 40 can really hinder progress if you're doing a lot of questing. This guy shows a couple really good grinding spots you can earn a nice amount gold, even if the server is still very new and has a poor economy.

Kind of goes to show how much serious discussion there should be for just vanilla related things alone.

So I rolled on a certain new, rather hyped Blizzard-like private server when it launched, but rather then finding myself pushing another character to 60, I found myself in a bit of an endless spiral that some fall victim to in that I keep changing classes. My two favorite classes have always been the mage and the hunter, because I love ranged classes and I like having the potential to kite things. I had plenty of other alts in later expansions of course, leveling was easy enough and it was easier to get alts geared. In vanilla you have to make your choices more carefully, because there's a lot more commitment to a character. My main problem this time around is that I've been branching out more with these private servers, and the primary reason for the constant class switching hadn't been discontent, but rather feeling very undecided on what I enjoy best! The thing is, anyone who has played back then can tell you the game is certainly far from balanced, but every class has something very unique about it. Every class has a specific thing it really thrives in over other classes, there's a lot more class identity. I'm at a point where I'm currently completely undecided on what I want to play for the official classic release, for good reasons. I would urge people to look deep into this if they have interest in playing the official launch so they don't experience this endless cycle themselves, it's a long journey to 60.
