how do you tell your parents your an otaku?

well so i am a huge anime fan and my parents know nothing about it. They generaly think anime is for kids and not something anyone older than 9 should watch and even if i would show them that it is not only for kids i dont think they will realy accept it, buttt yea i am 16 now and a otaku for 3 years or so and no one knows about it although its a pritty big part of my life, it is really frustrating. Any tips how to tell my parents and let them accept it?

"i watch asian cartoons" "so" "so im an otaku" "oh no call the police" you're not even 20 boi you can watch spongebob daily and noone can tell you shit just say "I watch japanese cartoons rather than tv shows most of the time, its a pretty big hobby of mine because i love the art style and they usually have certain storylines that fit the genre too"

yeah especially if you feel coming out as a watcher of cartoons is on the same level as how being gay was oppressed by many countries for the longest time and still is severely looked down on in many backwards stone age countries

Not sure if this is a legitimate problem or not...I have to agree with "dat boi [fallen]" though, but who knows. Maybe this really is a problem for you, kind of strange, but if it is then don't hide it, embrace it and just watch what ever you want. It's not really a big deal, but maybe show them the most innocent anime you like to ease them in. Nothing too out there.
