Why I hate black history month? 1) Hate being referred to as a color (Personal thing) 2) Hate that people think the only time to discuss the history of African Americans is once a year for 28 to 29 days, depending on the year, and people are OK with this. 3) Hate that schools don't even attempt to update their history books to talk about Africans other than the fact that they were slaves in the US. There's never education on what African's were doing before & after the USA's involvement. It's just, savages, sell outs, slaves & stupid all the way up to high school. Then, if you choose to, you can learn about African history the proper way in college (Depending on where). 4) Hate that schools now barely even cover slavery. Texas schools took out slave & slavery & said that Africans were indentured servants that wanted to be taken away. It's not enough that you don't teach it properly thru ought the year, but now you're going to lie & cover up what really happened because you're ashamed of it? You're fucking suppose to be. I'm suppose to be mad that my ancestors used to be slaves. It's what I do with this newfound information & freedom that matters, for better or for worse. 5) Hate that people actually say shit like "what if there was white history month". Bitch, that's every other month in the US. That's like people pissed off about BET. same argument. Those are the main reasons.
