Controversial opinions

I don't know if this is a controversial opinion, but I don't really get why people feel pride in a country they were born and lived in or being of a certain race. Them being born the way they are is decided by pure chance. They didn't choose to be born in that country or to be born of that race, so why feel any pride? The accomplishments of that country/race in the past were not your own whatsoever, you had no hand in them. Why feel any pride for achievements that are not your own? Why feel pride of the achievements of other who happen to live in the same country, or are the same race as you? You were born as that race or in the same country by chance, you shouldn't feel any pride for someone else's actions or be prideful for something that was based on complete luck.

^Now I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment but eh. People are always going to be like that. It's just human tribalism at a large scale...Though thanks to how large and open our world has become our tribalism has been simplified a lot. People celebrate the accomplishments of groups that would have been considered rivals or enemies by their ancestors as their own because of the simple fact that they share the same skin color these days. I never understood white supremacists because of this actually. How are they any different from the afrocentric types who are always mocked because 'they wuz kangz and shieet' Yeah there were white people who did great things but the average white person today is more than likely the descendant of just...some dude. While a minority are actually descendants of kangz, the aristocracy, etc and still reap the benefits of that lineage. Holy shit it's almost like throughout the history of the human race most people are born into absolutely common families that do nothing special aside from having the luxury to reproduce...and not die? Which is why their descendants exist today. It's fine to celebrate your culture but I dunno. People take it too far most of the time.

Yeah I don't get it either. You guys said it already. People who takes so much pride of the country they were born or race are just beyond my comprehension.

I agree whisp, I think it's okay to have a little banter about it, but like don't start taking that shit serious. for real.
