No, they aren't. That's a pretty common misconception. They're part of the same 'bully' family but still are two different breeds. There's actually very clear differences between the two. The biggest difference being that american bulldogs are generally just larger (both in height and just general size), more stocky and have a different shaped head than pitbulls. The dog in the second pic is actually really big, he weighs like 120 pounds now. He's a gentle giant though. :u
