i was in an anime club throughout high school besides freshman year. I have to say i usually skipped the weekly club meetings because none of my friends where in the club and i admit most of the ppl in the club where nice people but a bit out there for me. they called each other by country names (because of hetalia) and they called me senpai (not as a joke) and it was a bit uncomfortable for me. but it was a nice place to draw in the corner of the room lol.

The first time I went to my town's anime club meeting was the last one as well. :D The cringe was real, I just couldn't fit in that mentality. :/ edit: girls wore cat ears, made silly noises, you know the drill.. :D One must know the boundary between the real world and the virtual one. >>

There isn't a "anime" club in my school and even if there was I could imagine the types of people that would be in the club.

so im guessing anime clubs are not very good lol

I joined a Japan club, which is close enough because they showed a lot of anime at club times lol It was ok, the people seemed to be nice just cause they had to be, but on the upside the club gave me the opportunity to visit Japan!

I made one not too long ago for my area. Nothing school related. More for adults really. It's at 20+ members but in our first meeting only three showed up. Bit of a shame they were those stuck in the past types who don't like anything made after x year, but there's far worse people out there in the anime fandom. Two of the dudes were pretty cool/normal for the most part anyway, but what did sort of ruin it was this skinhead guy covered in tats with ear spacers and all who felt the need to make the meeting all about him and his life story, and wouldn't shut up to let the other members get a word in. Most of what he went on about had nothing to do with anime in the slightest. He was a complete normalfag, Totally starved for attention and full of himself while occasionally making passive aggressive comments or ignorant comments about anime and japan when not bragging about how much money he makes doing this or that. It left me feeling a bit conflicted. I'd leave the club and never attend another meeting if that guy was gonna be there, but I run the club and have a responsibility to it and the other members. I never heard back from one of the two decent guys there, but the other one didn't seem to mind this biker/skinhead guy. Meanwhile I ended up meeting one of the other members who wasn't able to attend our first meeting and we checked out one of those ghibli movies that are being shown in the area lately. That at least went a bit better. Like myself they aren't able to attend most of the anime group meetings in the area because they're always on the weekends, and the people who run them don't care if many members work weekends. From what I've seen some group leaders will cancel meetings if they themselves can't attend even if there's hundreds of others planing on going.

twice once in the public library (virginia has alot of anime fans) but it was full of adults and i was in 6th grade so it was weird but i won a raffle and got a "how to draw anime" book second was in the highschool anime club i made some friends that i never really saw outside the club but it was really fun, though the president was abit of a nazi we watched that movie about that investigator from that anime game? mr laten or something? we did trivia too and whoever won got a box of pocky only had like two or three meetings though, because when we got a new principal he disbanned the "non educational clubs" sucks cause i was a freshmen and the club had been formed for like, 3 years the president was a real life shota though was a senior but was around 4'5 and looked like a 12 yr old fuckin adorable kid (even though hes older than me), was nice too, just controlling shota-senpai~ lel~

ok ill add a extra question what types of anime did they talk in the anime clubs u joined? did they mostly talk about mainstream anime or did they like to talk about lesser known anime that not many people might have heard of?
