What do you like about the anime community?

No, the title is not meant to be sarcastic haha On a serious note, I think the anime community and anime in general is severely misrepresented in the United States (and I imagine other parts of the world, as well). Anime fans tend to be portrayed as a bunch of nerdy ass losers, but I actually have found the anime community to be very welcoming and diverse. I love how varied it is and how you get to learn about other people's experiences. There is a large amount of LGBT people and people of color in the anime community, and its interesting to me how such an art form can bring these groups together. What do you folk think about the community? I can't imagine you truly hate it, otherwise you probably wouldn't be on this site hahaha
