I'm with yasshat on this one. Though I wouldn't necessarily limit it to gender. If the power dynamic is off I most likely won't fight back unless it's a life-death situation. If they're weaker (which happens with both genders. I'm 5"10 and have spent the first 15 years of my life fighting a dude both older and taller than me.. love you big bro <3) I'd feel like fighting back is unnecessary violence and I'm an almost naive pacifist. I'd just hold them down. If they're obviously stronger I wouldn't fight back because I'm not fucking suicidal. I'd choose a diplomatic approach in such a scenario. Unless my friends are involved. A gang (10 guys against 3 guys and 1 chick... love such heroic gangs) tried to beat up a very close guy friend of mine right in front of me once and I snapped. I didn't care who was in my way but I was not going to let them hurt my friends and hey.. we all survived and had a few of those guys arrested. Ridding the world of garbage one moron at the time.

My philosophy is that if anyone, regardless of gender can provoke me enough to hit them, then they probably deserve it. That being said, I have only hit one or two people in my life.

I also don't believe your statement that women "can't take a punch if she starts it". There are plenty of girls out there who can, and will, fight. It's like saying that guys can't take a punch since there is a growing percentage of weaklings among them; sometimes true, sometimes not.

Plenty does not equal the majority. Know the difference between testosterone and estrogen. It's not a sexist thing, it just is what it is and yes there are always exceptions.

It doesn't need to be the majority. For that matter, I'm sure that the majority of girls do not go around hitting people.

Grown ass people shouldn't be having fist fights like emotional teenagers.
I don't see a reason to ever punch a woman with a fist, but if she's hostile, blocks and a gentle shove or two is acceptable. Especially if there isn't much size difference and/or if she has a pan/bottle/something to hit you with.
