Thank you Sherflow! You got the point. Although I knew some people would make fun of me. Yotsugi's character is based on real mythologies. She is essentially a summoned spirit (Shikigami) given a previously deceased human body in which to permanently reside. It could be argued that the anime character is a completely unrealistic depiction of the real thing (if you believe it's possible) but you would have to ask an onmyōji. As far as the character goes, she seems to think and have low level emotions (even if subdued), or learns to have emotions over time. So in that context she seems to be alive. However I don't recall if she can experience pain or normal biological death in the way a human can. She is not decaying so it can be presumed that she is either alive or preserved through magickal means.
