Time to finish art of this quality

kawa
I want to know how long it should take for a person to draw this out? So how long would you give me to draw something with this standard of quality? http://jcdenton0451.deviantart.com/art/chiky-light-armor-636875829?ga_submit_new=10%253A1474994779

Hey Kawa. Honestly it depends. Some can write a book within a year. Others take 5... it's the same with art. Whether it be music production, fashion, drawings, you have to figure out your own pace and skill level. If that's the quality you're aiming for, try it out! If it takes longer than you expected, don't worry and keep practicing! That's the only way to get better. If this is pertaining a job or "commissions", then double the amount of time you think you'll need. For instance, say a drawing like that takes 3 days. Tell your client that you'll finish it in one week, THEN hand it in in 3 days so they'll say "DAMN YOU'RE WAY AHEAD OF SCHEDULE!!! I'll hire you again! :>" (that doesn't always happen tho #WOMP) Basically, give yourself enough leeway cause you'll never know what'll pop up in your schedule. That and you don't want to burn out. I've learned that the hard way... As for how long it would take me to draw something of that quality... well, that also depends! If I already have the character designed (like a character/model sheet) then I can make a new illustration in 2 hours or so. If I'm designing a character off the top of my head with a unique outfit, it'll take some time because I wanna play around with the design. This drawing (Kawaii Girl #2) literally took 15 mins but then I spent around two hours deciding how her hair/headpiece should look. Of course this wasn't rendered but still! https://i.imgur.com/CuHZvje.png In terms of my progress, I still have things to improve (such as having a "defined" color/rendering style) so yeah... just keep working!

EDIT: Wait to answer your question, if I wanted you to draw me something, I'd give you a week, but I'd expect it in less than 3 days! (#WOMP)

Thank you for the feedback I will make notes and see if my schedule can be adapted or if i have more room to modify each character.
