Rather than artists, I usually keep track of tracks that I really like. My Soul Your Beats by Lia anything SuperCell makes Rewrite by Asian Kung Fu Generation Hero Without a Name (aka Kakusei Heroism) by An Cafe 369 Kasumi (not sure which is the band and which is song. I think Kasumi is the song, though. "Daughter of 20 Faces op" is a safer search) I Say Yes by Ichiko (totally going to convince whoever I marry to have this played at our wedding!) Perfect Area Complete (not sure about the artists, but it's the Baka to Test opening) Hishoko No Sora by Kotoko (also check out Being by Kotoko) Love Destiny by Yui Horie Joint by Mami Kawada (also check out Prophecy by her as well) In My World by Rookiez is Punk'd Core Pride by UVERworld Dream of Life by Shohei Itou Hologram by NICO Touches The Walls Free to Dream by Suara (also check out Memory) Blue Sky True Sky by Aira Yuki (also check out Weeping Alone) Last Version for Last by Faylan Silky Heart by Yui Horie Only My Railgun by fripSide Diamond by Alan With You by AAA Uso by SID (also check out Rain) Colors by FLOW (questionable) Immoralist by Yui Horie (this one is a bit questionable and dependent on your mood at the time) The problem with suggestions here is that each artist can sound so different between their own songs, so what might be heavy rock on one song could be sweet and slow in another. Well, you can't go wrong with Supercell! :) I never realized how many of the Japanese songs I liked were JRock (or sounded like it was rock, at least), but there are plenty of other songs in the list as well.

You can also just go to last.fm and type in jrock, jpop, or whatever kind of japanese songs you like. That's a great way to find new ones as well. All the ones I've listed were from anime, as I forgot to write down what my favorite jrock and jpop was from last.fm I'm sure I'd have more if I saved more of my favorite anime opening/endings, but, sadly, I haven't. Oh! I can't believe I forgot my favorite! Uragiri No Yuuyake by Theatre Brook. I have no idea why that wasn't saved or written down.

o lol okay when did u start watching anime?
keisanki_no_otaku
If you want to know when I first watched anime, it was about 1st grade (if Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, and Jackie Chan Adventures count), maybe 5th grade for Miyazaki movies, and Freshman year of high school to really get into it. I'll probably spend Sunday night when I get back making a list of all the anime I've seen. I'm really curious to the number, because it's probably around 800-1000 series. I think it's about time to make my own anime blog. I should have plenty of material by now! :p
