Tonight has been exhausting. It's poured rain like it's nobody's business. Hauling trailers to an off-site that's located in the sticks in the dark only to then battle with a crappy dial lock that jams in a downpour is up there in crappy situations to find oneself! Tomorrow will be my mother's 66th birthday. She's been invited by her half-nephew, who himself is 78, to spend the day with his family. His father, who was my mother's half-brother, passed a number of years back. Though her half siblings had openly admitted to wanting zero to do with us because of the man my grandfather was, this estranged nephew has no such hang-ups especially given how he himself is not long for this world. Hopefully it will go well. My mother has next to no family left to speak of aside from her younger brother in Taiwan and another older brother in Texas. Once they pass that will leave only my cousins and their children. They of course aren't interested in keeping in touch. So she's just going to have to make do, hmhm.
