I ran into a coworker today that I like to have occasional chats with. However I experienced the worst case scenario of misunderstanding a person's mumbling while attempting to extend the small talk. The person had their head down working on some papers when I made commentary about the week. I thought they muttered some cliche about the day. To which in return I gave them a smile and a thumbs up. Joke was on me when after a long awkward stare she yells "Yeah, my brother is dead and it's all smiles isn't it? Thanks for asking!" I was so caught off guard I just stood there stupidly. Being an extrovert is not always a walk in the park. Also sometimes I wonder if I should invest in hearing aids?

Gendo Ikari @gabriel_true That's probably one of the few scenarios where I like being able to partially tell emotions from people by their behavior/speech, opens up lots of possibilities, like offering them a shoulder or evading them to avoid bad circumstances... Problem is, the trade-off of unilaterally absorbing their feelings it's tiring as fuck U ´꓃ ` U I wish you luck on mending this
