Myths About Intelligence, IQ and Being "Smart"

I got mine tested by my psychiatrist I had at the time. I have eidetic memory, and no, I didn't train it, its been with me since forever. I'm the only one in my family who rather clearly remembers my great-grandfather's funeral, including the viewing, the order of the pallbearers, the weather on that day and a lot of specific things that were said. Although I find that I only remember details I'm paying attention to - for instance I couldn't tell you what the chatter between my grandparents were at the funeral because at the time I didn't really get death, I was like 6 at the time though. And as for academics, again I can remember things clearly but only the strongest details of the events that were important. I have memory, for instance of all sorts of things and did well in subjects like history and science, but in math, for instance, it was hit or miss for me because I'm dysgraphic, I can't write well, so I can't really visualize math problems super easily.

Dysgraphic only affects writing, my friend. I've used computers since I was 7 so I have 15 years of experience under my belt to perfect my typing to a high degree. My handwriting is awful. And eidetic memory actually matches up with what I'm saying because I can recall specific dates, and important details. Less important stuff like cross chatter though, I don't bother wasting precious memory. Fun fact, I tasted Surge when I was 7, it was pulled from the market, it came back and tastes exactly the same!

In my opinion, IQ tests aren't really a reflection of how fast, or slow a person learns. To me, someone who has a high IQ , is similar to how, you deemed someone who is smart. IQ tests, test how well, and quickly someone solves a problem, be it in arithmetic, vocabulary, science, reading, reaction speed, visual tests, or whatever. It simply shows a rating of how well you have trained your mind, or body in these subjects, not how fast a person learns. For example, if you are doing arithmetic, and simply don’t the math formula to solve that particular problem , it doesn't mean you do not think fast, or well, it just means you have not learned the knowledge to solve the problem. An IQ test shows how knowledgeable a person is in every field. I do not think that there will ever really be, an accurate paper test, to show a persons intelligence. However maybe by measuring a persons brainwaves in some form, or fashion, we might be able to have an accurate IQ test. What I deem a person with a high IQ as, is someone who is what you called smart, but in every field. It doesn't mean that I think highly intelligent people don't exist, it is just that I think an IQ test can be trained for.

IQ is a measure of learning ability. I'm unable to do much in the way of math, due to a handwriting disability, but language, tech and mechanical skills for me are very high as a result. And an IQ test properly setup can't be trained for. They've done a number of double blind studies supporting the notion that people score at a relatively consistent grouping on the test even after 10, 20 tries.
