Dubbed Otaku?

maikunarukami
I consider myself an otaku because I love to watch anime, I am a huge collector and I love Japanese culture, but I prefer dubbed anime over subbed. Is there anyone else who shares this feeling or am I going to get booed for even bringing up the idea.

For me it goes: dubbed, subbed, then manga. I don't like reading subtitles while watching anything because it distracts me. I only use subtitles for when I'm playing something at low volume or I just can't hear what's being said. I also just like watching anime in english because I can hear accents, unlike in Japanese where I wouldn't know because I don't speak the language. So if I can't watch dubbed, I'll go to subbed. And if I like it enough before or after finishing the anime, I'll go to the manga.

for me its subbed. I have been watching anime long enough that it has just become my preference. the only times i ocassionaly have to rewind are when there are multiple conversations going at the same time C:

Also, I came across a troll sub of an anime I was watching. It took about ten minutes in for me to notice because it sound normal for the anime since it was a goofy show but then I noticed when it started saying things that fully wasn't making any sense.

I have been watching anime now for almost ten years and I have always struggled to read the subtitles, so I just decide to watch it dubbed instead. I will read the manga if I enjoy the anime enough to want to know more, hence why I own all of the naruto manga. I know that some older anime have awful dubs but now I don't see why some people say that dubbed anime is horrible.

I think that subs and dubs can both be good, so for me it really varies from anime to anime. Sometimes dubs really nail the voices and can make the anime that much better for me. Other times not so much and then I would just go with watching it subed.

I'm with you when it comes to dubbed anime. I only really watch an anime subbed if it is the only choice. Most times i'll wait for the dub to be released if i know it will get one eventually

Prefers Dub, but if they sound horrible will switch to sub. Mostly everything that isnt out yet I watch in sub. If its out in dub I watch dub.
