Would you date someone with a bad history/emotional background?

voricann
I have no experience dating someone with a bad past or emotional background. All I have to deal with is my own psychological issues, the loneliness, the apathy and light depression. But luckily Anime, Games and Manga, that and alcohol can distract me from that for a time.

Totally. It's not their fault that they are emotionally scarred or troubled.

Yes so I can heal their wounds and make them feel better^.^

Well...obviously those who had a merry happy sheltered fairy tale life without a single care in the world are never going to find a common language, with somebody who got constantly rekt by the universe or had a dark history. Of course as in everything else there are exceptions, but yeah...just exceptions. As for myself, yeah...I would date them if I cared enough. Mainly because I've done some things in my past that I'm really not proud of, and because of my bipolar split personality-like moodiness that is a major pain in the ass for everyone around me. So I'd most likely be able to relate to a lot of stuff that person's been or going through. Despite what everyone likes to say, life is indeed about luck. Of course the future is entirely up to you and your actions, but you cannot influence that you were born at a wrong time and place. Question is though, if those people will even accept your help. Once you end up in the darkness, it's very difficult to get out and the daylight of hope can sometimes bring more harm rather than anything good. Those people are usually not used to being treated nice, so they tend to freak out, pull away, and sometimes even lash out at you. Therefore...unless you are more patient than a mountain and have a will made of stainless steel, you're really gonna have a hard time putting up with people like us and our daily load of garbage. xD

Love takes time so it's best to give off my own kindness and help the person I am dating despite us being in a relationship or not. I rather let this person get fixed and see the better sides of life then going down into a history of depression.

The most beautiful flowers sometimes found in lava flows. I like people who have a bit of a past, because talking about it only brings you closer.

I would date someone like that if I could help them and maybe with their help I'll get over my antisocial disorder

I have my own traumatic incidents from my past that I've had to overcome (honestly, who hasn't?), so I would be totally accepting of anyone who needs a shoulder to cry on now and then. I actually like feeling like I can fit into that role of comforter and confidant for a romantic partner. In contrast, I can't stand it when someone bottles things up and refuses to talk about their problems. The only caveat is that they don't let their problems consume them and they're willing to either get help on their own or accept it when offered. As long as they're willing to put some effort in where it's needed; whether it be talking with a psychologist, taking medication, or just making lifestyle changes, I'll be right there with them to provide support. Of course, there are some people who are legitimately unbalanced to the point that they could be dangerous. I don't particularly want to have anything to do with someone like that; but if it's just depression or anxiety, that's totally manageable.

I would depending on the degree of things but to be honest, nobody in life ever asks to have these types of backgrounds, I have some issues myself but I try to work on them best I can and I wouldn't want to be faulted for having to go through the things I have, so I would date someone with that sort of background!
