Serious time. I recently learned that the anime business is rapidly declining, and that it could possibly die out in the not-so-distant future. I urge you all to BUY your shows and movies, either hard copies or online subscriptions. This video explains the situation in better detail. BTW, if you've never watched The Anime Man, I highly recommend that you do. I think he is really funny and also very informative. Please let me know your thoughts on this troubling news. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jDPtLlj-ao

it will still live as long as we let the main stream anime roll out like naruto dragon ball etc. and help support are creators we will still have anime like the new dragon ball z movie made over 2.3 million in the first day in theaters. the only problem with anime is that most anime is never shown on tv in other conterys outside japan and the us. so fans of anime that are in other places in the world never get to see there anime without using via the internet. but as long as we support are favorite animes and keep spreading it and telling people to buy these animes we can survive. also the 2ed season of attack on titan is comming soon if that doesn't sell anime i don't know what will.

People need to stop being drama queens. So what, one player in a MASSIVE industry goes bankrupt and we have a poor season - this is nothing new. For one, Manglobe was not by any means what I'd call a gem of the anime industry - Hayate the Combat Butler and Dead Man Wonderland were the only two I recognized in their production list. Both are not what I would consider stellar anime. Physical media sales are down, yes, but Crunchyroll and other anime streaming sites like Daisuki are doing great, as well as other forms of anime distribution. This is *normal*. Piracy is not significant enough to cause any damage to this industry.
The two primary risks are the animators of Japan are not compensated well - this is a problem, which is slowly being remedied, and Japan's rather slow to uptake new tech. Neither of these are likely to impact the industry significantly. Stop freaking out, unbind your panties and don't buy into the clickbait.

The industry goes through ebbs and flows. Several years back, many companies on both sides of the Pacific closed up, citing piracy as a big problem. (Don't get me started on fansubs and piracy; that would be a long rant.) I'd not be surprised if this is the effect of more HD animation and its increased costs. This also isn't limited to anime; last generation for video games also saw many companies close because of uncontrolled costs for making HD games. I'm not inclined to believe that things are that dire for an industry that's been around for this long.
