Too old?

Neet-one, yeah I don't believe it is if they're platonic, but knowing how teens are, if I had a daughter, no way in hell would she be dating a man older than 17 until she turns 18. Reason being, I wouldn't want to put her, or the guy, in the position of being the angry dad pressing charges. Also, Tiger Festival I am using the legal definition of pedophilia which encompasses all sexual relations with people under the age of 18

It changes with context, but the general rule is that the youngest you should date is your own age divided by two, plus seven years. where n = your age 0.5(n)+7 = the youngest you should date It probably works as a rule of thumb, in terms of what's socially acceptable

I give myself a 5 year difference in either direction. More than that and I feel that the differences in maturity and where you are in life become a little too much.

I think going after an older man or woman is fine.. I see the idea as appealing considering you would think them to be more rooted in their work, passions, and generally secure. I don't think age matters at all although it does look odd to see a 40 year old man with like say a woman in her early 20's. Same goes for a 40 year old woman.. though admittedly this looks less odd for me.

I'm 25 and I've dated women way older than me. After the 7 year difference it does get odd. I dated one woman who was 11 years older and people usually gave us weird gazes. Love is funny and if it works it works. As long as you and your other half love each other age is kind of pointless. I've also dated girls younger than me and found it odd at times. I wouldn't date 5 years under myself again.

my personal choice or general rule is not dating anyone that is over 10-11 difference younger or older but if your older than 18 only date up,, I am 33 i have dated otaku's and non otaku's alike age is just a number in loves eyes but eyes of the law is the ones that will land you in jail lol so yes age really dont matter tho those who truly love each other but don't be foolish either you should know whats right and wrong

Question As you can tell by my profile I'm 25. Question is what if you meet someone either online or in real life but they are a year away at being 18. What are your opinions on that? Is Just talking OK or not ??? Would it be OK to progress if the age difference was 8 years?

Being an "oldtaku" i.e. an anime fan over 30 isn't easy, especially when the majority of any potential girls you might run into with similar interests tend to gear towards 25 and under and those same girls already having plenty of guys to pick from closer to them in age. The divide by two add seven rule is a pretty decent rule of thumb as far as general age to go by. Being 35, pretty much anything under 25 is probably pushing it although I could see going as young as 21 for the right person. Probably not much over 40 if we're looking at the other end of the spectrum, at least for me personally.
