Installment 8 (Part 1 on 151, part 2 on 166, part 3 on 214, part 4 on 220, part 5 on 246, part 6 on 253, part 7 on 260): “Can I help you, Veruca”, a voice behind her quickly asked. Veruca started and swirled around to confront the owner of the voice. She was faced by an amused Creepy. The voluptuous figure of Creepy pushed past her and into her house. Veruca was still trying to recover from her scare when Creepy piped up, “I guess you would want a doll made if you’re coming to me. I am the village doll maker after all.” Our heroine stepped into the home and was greeted by a strong smell of wood varnish and resin. The walls were painted in a rainbow of colours with intricate dolls hanging from the ceiling. “Yes, I would like you to make a life-sized replica of Arc. I would like to have it as quickly as possible.” That elicited a mischievous smile from the doll maker, “Are we feeling a bit lonely lately?”. Suddenly realizing how it looked, Veruca started to blush a bright red. She couldn’t meet Creepy’s gaze anymore and suddenly became very interested in her feet. “I-i-i-t isn’t l-l-ike that”, she forced out. “Maybe you would like articulated limbs so that he could hug you on the cold, dark nights. Hmmmm?” Turning red as a beet she replies abruptly, “It isn’t like that. Just make it as lifelike as possible in the shortest amount of time as possible”. She turned on her heel and exited the home as quickly as possible before she could embarrass herself any more. She felt that she could trust Creepy in this though. Just earlier this year Veruca had busted a couple of drifters trying to rob the doll workshop. The doll maker would make her request the top priority- “Who steals dolls!”, the biggest clubber says. With lightning quick speed the aged narrator slaps the big, muscled man leaving him clasping his stinging ear. “Didn’t I say that I wouldn’t humour any interruptions? It was a different time back then…If you really want to know, look it up on your new-fangled smart phone or ask your Twitter followers. Whatever you young ’uns do these days.” The guy recovers enough to whip out his phone. “We were at the section where our intrepid protagonist was acquiring a doll, right?
