Here is installment 4 (installment 1 is on page 151, installment 2 is on page 166, installment 3 is on page 214): Suddenly there was a clatter from below. Cursing her luck Veruca scanned her surroundings for possible hiding places. Finding none and with the clattering becoming progressively closer she pushed herself against the wall and hoped for the best. She hoped that the darkness on the overcast night would hide her from whoever was making their way down the path this late in the evening. Suddenly two distinct, hoarse voices broke out in an out of key duet: “99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer. Take one down, pass it around..”. As they were just about to round the far corner she could make out the two figures against the dim light from a house opposite. It was Frost and Panda staggering arm in arm down the road. The two were probably returning from a heavy night of partying. Veruca shook her head disapprovingly as she watched the two stumble out of sight. Just as she was about to pull herself back up to the window she felt a chill run down her spine. There was a slight reflection of a shadow in the window in front of her. The shadow was slowly moving closer, closer, closer…until the presence was right behind her. She could make out a petite female figure embroiled in shadows. The face broke out into a wide grin and made to grasp at her back. As the shadow was about to claw at her back she let go of her ledge and the shadowy figure was left grasping air. With a heavy thump Veruca landed on the ground. All the air was summarily knocked out of her lungs. She could only watch as the creature floated down towards her with her claws outstretched. Like a leaf caught in a soft breeze the dark creature made her way down until it was face to face with her prey. Veruca felt the icy breath on her face.
