Honestly, I would tell the truth to them straight in their face. Nobody's crazy enough for someone to wait for years on end just for the eventual shot that they MIGHT get the person they love because it'll most likely end in utter disappointment for them and you're better off saving her that pain by telling her you don't like her in that way and it's not going to happen. If she understands, she'll drop it and stay friends and if she doesn't then you don't need the melodrama so please just be ready for a flood of tears and be prepared to cut ties if it gets really bad. I know I sound like a cold prick for saying this but with the number of girls who have been crazy for me in my secondary school years, it's the best course of action when it gets bad. Hopefully it never comes to this and it's just an outbreak of young love that will eventually go away on its own in due time. But that's just my advice, make your own judgement on what you feel is the best thing to do.
