Revolutionary Girl Utena

So I tell myself "Hey, I'm 30 now, it's been like 10 years since I last watched this show. I'm wiser and more mature, I've seen a lot of anime, I'm pretty good at analyzing a story. Maybe now I'll be able to make sense of this show." My re-viewing can be summed up as: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Xi1PbPBD4M I don't know anymore if this show really is trying to convey something via symbolism and metaphors, or if it's just trolling me while not being nearly as deep as it looks. At least the music and swordplay are cool.

I thought I pretty well understood the series up until the last 1 or 2 episodes at which point I became utterly lost. When I tried to look online for other peoples opinions/attempts at understanding the ending I became lost in a sea of crazy, expansive theories.
