Probably because more people tend to treat this site like a facebook for otaku then an actual dating site. My mantra has always been this. If you're legitimately trying to find a relationship on here, you should have at least one or two IRL pics of yourself on your profile. If you're just looking for online friends, then go nuts with the anime avatars.

Wow... And here I was accused of high jacking this thread. So much tripe... It's a subject of agree or disagree. It's really not so complicated. But, I've no t iced a trend from some of the "newer" users who think it's cute or funny to just be random or have a personal conversation on a public thread. Ok, now that that's out of the way. I think I already stated my opinion and yes I'm aware I've added to the chaos. I just thought it necessary to alsopoint out the idiocy of it all while contributing to it.XD

I think that's pretty sensible Cecil. I'd honestly have trouble opening up as a friend to someone on here who solely has anime pix. I actually prefer live cam sessions or meet up before I consider someone a friend. It'd be creepy any other way for me.
