18+ website membership?

The majority of that post is pointless. It's common knowledge that puberty hits around that age and that girls become more sexually active then. Just because it happens doesnt justify the (il)legality of it. There is no need for you to devils advocate here because you were in the thread last time. You already know how both sides were presented and handled, and you know the outcome. By calling it devils advocating and knowing above, you're doing nothing but trolling now, trying to push this thread further than it needs to.

Oh, and excellent use of sarcasm. A+.

I don't think this website should be 18+ but I'm fine with someone creating a separate 18+ dating otaku site.

Why not enable a site-wide filter for mature content? Automatically enable the filter for those underage, and allow folks over the age of 18 to disable the filter via their profile settings. That way things labelled mature simply won't show up for those under 18. "But kids could fake their age!" -- While this is true, active moderation of the users and a report function could put a halt on this. "But what if some angry parent tries to sue the site!" -- Add the usual "you can't lie about your age, and if you do it's immediate grounds for termination of the account" stuff to the site's Terms of Service. Plus plausible deniability and what not. Or something like that.

^Sure, if Ryan (Sephiroth) wants to go through the trouble of coding for all that. I have no idea how complicated that might be.

I don't think it's a matter of forum content but a matter of certain users inappropriately interacting with underage user, whether willing or (in most cases) not. Seph did impliment a few safeguards last time: 1. Removal of underage being shown in search or on front page "new otaku". 2. Legal age cannot view underage profiles without being friends. This has flaws still in my opinion, but it's a start.

^ Preventing that won't really stop the pedo problem, pedo's will just make a fake account stating they are underage. while the rest of us will get held back from talking normal to them. When something happens behind closed curtains, it's not visible & it's harder to stop/prevent it from happening, than when it happens in public. I like the idea of a server wide mature-content filter or the option in one's account. - could trigger on key words & their frequency in a thread - could be an option to activate when making a thread

Irrespective of my personal feelings, I'm just telling you what came from the last thread of this sort. I do not fully agree with what came, but I will say it was a step. My feeling is that you are mistaking what I am saying as what I want, not what had happened.

For those that missed it, read the "for the love of all that's sane" thread in the serious posts forum. Asshats' old account was banned so you won't see his posts, but if you wanna see the argument, go read through.
