if they are American it's that dental floss they call underwear if they are from somewhere else it is most likely a sandal type thing that people like to call a shoe Both are not something I would wear.

Well on a serious note, some people actually prefer wearing thongs, like how some people prefer wearing heels. It's just a personal preference. On a practical side, some clothing looks better with thongs like leggings and other tighter bottoms because you won't see a panty line. Which honestly is the only reason I wear thongs. I like girls who wear thongs because you have to be extra clean to avoid stains if your butt is being flossed constantly so it's easy to see if girls have good hygiene. Ewww to men wearing thongs because most men have hairy asses they don't shave and poor anal hygiene.

I just can't imagine they would be very comfortable. I would lose my mind if my underwear were riding my crack all the time. One of my stripper friends says the trick is to get ones that are not too tight so they just kind of sit on the crack instead of flossing it. I dunno, if a girl likes wearing them cool, whatever is comfortable. I prefer stuff that leaves a little to the imagination myself.
