A little piece of the soul

"The time had come, the toll of the bell was heard. Why? Why must the night come when it had been such a beautiful day? Why did such a golden radiance have to set, making way to the cold, familiar chill of night? There was no explanation. It was simply time. Time for another chapter in the story to end, and time for a new home to be found. One where the sun would shine upon their life again."

Short and sweet. Intelligent piece. I feel like it has a lot of potential to be expanded upon, but the conciseness adds to its charm.

I'm a method writer. I can only write the emotion into a translated piece when I feel it. Attempts at expanding it might only serve to dilute the emotion from it since I wrote it down in less than 2 minutes when the feeling was there. I appreciate the feedback though.

I understand. I take it this piece deals with the recent termination of your long term relationship? (I read your bio) I see it as a piece about accepting the inevitable end to something "good" and moving on, hoping to find another such "good." Of course, I could be reading too much into it. But emotional pieces usually have a reason they are emotional, no?

To be more expressive about it. The piece is talking about the closing of a chapter in my life. I wasn't perfect just as anyone elses life is not, but it was the first golden age for me. It was my happiest time ever so far in my life, and while I am sad to see it go, and I feel myself often questioning the suddeness in which it ended, I am moving on so that I will find the next golden age of happiness and adventure around the corner. Life is too short for us to slog through mud.
