Some are and some are not. Currently in my apartment building (working up money to get a better building) we have two people who have lived in the apartments for over 20 years. The apartments I live at are set up so one has to work with their neighbors and spend time with them to maintain the apartments. There are more men living in these than women, but in my section there are two women who say they will never leave as they never want to be alone. They want to be able to knock on someone's door no matter what time it is and have someone to talk to. Though with me, when they do that I usually comment about needing the toilet to get out of that situation. I as a woman do not get lonely for romance as often as I get lonely for friends. I am not invincible. We all want companionship. I am more at ease because I have a pet.

lmaoooo no. Women are no way better at dealing with loneliness than men. The reason why it seems like it is because biological/societal rules: the man goes after the woman. So you're more likely to see guys complaining b/c theyre the ones who are more active when it comes to seeking a partner. There are actually more single women than men in an average population, but women are just more selective when it comes to finding people.

maybe at hiding it.

I don't think your being heartless, it's important learning how to be comfortable being single cause if not, that can lead to a co-dependant relationship and that's very damaging. It's okay to be single But I do think society kinda pressures people into this mentality that you "need" to find someone, get laid, marriage and kids etc etc. That stuff is cool and all but I don't think it's a priority. Being single can actually be a good positive experience

I don't feel pressured necessarily. I mean it's there but I'm not going to date because someone tells me to. It's something I actually want.

Loneliness is a result of a persons lack of ability to open themselves to others and vice versa. It comes when an individual closes others out because they give up on themselves and others when it comes to building any sort of relationship.

Yea, both are good experiences no doubt.

@This I do not think you are being heartless, just practical or pragmatic. Coping with loneliness I think varies with the persons character. Men typically withdraw inward and self-reflect or self-berate. Men ask for help less as culture tells them to just 'man up' and take it like nothing hurts them but it does and they are shamed for being weak furthering their depression sometimes. Women are more wired to be social and while some withdraw, many look to friends/family or whatever support network they have if any. In our culture women can get sex easier but when it comes to healthy relationships they do about as well or not as men. It is proven having a pet when living alone especially is very beneficial as you have something to care for and consider beyond yourself.
