I've always considered otaku and weeaboo to be two completely different paragons of similar interests. To me otaku are people who just enjoy anime, Japanese games and like Japan and the culture whilst keeping a hold of their own personal identity and keeping their own personal heritage in mind - accepting who they are and what they have whilst still appreciating those things. Weeaboos are people who take that passion to ludicrous degrees to the point where it becomes cringe-worthy and disregarding their own personal heritage under the illusion that they are Japanese or feel that they should have been born as a Japanese person - it almost feels like they're in some sort of state of self-loathing over something that's not under anyone's control. Nothing wrong with expressing your love for something but when you try to rip a part of yourself away from the person you truly are then is it really the real you (Not speaking to anyone in person, I'm speaking in a sort of a monologue thing)?
For weeaboos, as much as I hate them - I kind of pity them at the same time. I find them take their game and anime obsession to a really unhealthy level, trying desperately to learn Japanese from the anime they watch and no matter how hard they try; they will never become Japanese. A sad existence really. I consider myself Otaku, while I don't like where I live I am quite proud of the person I am and my heritage (Surprisingly my heritage is quite prestigious but that was a long, long time ago but it's still something to be proud of I think) - I love Japan and anime and games and the culture itself but not once have I ever thought I should have been a part of that culture to begin with, heck I don't even want to live over there since I actually love the concept of Japan being a completely different world to me. I'm quite happy being foreign to Japan, it'll make visiting there one day to be a much more exciting experience I think.
So yeah I probably answered in the most bizarre way possible but I answered nonetheless despite the heavy amount of typos that I can't be arsed to fix.

I think they need to quit making up new terms to define stupid stuff. In general the terms describe a person that is into anime. Its just the degree anime plays a part in your life. Whether you spend a weekend watching anime, Never leave your house and just watch anime, Or Actually think your part of the anime culture where it originated. They are all just different degrees of interest in anime.

To me, weeaboo is not something you can classify yourself as. It's more like something the stupid assholes of the internet finds amusing calling others for having a hobby in which they do not share.
But for the sake of realism, let's say that weeaboo is someone who is obsessed with japanese culture to the level that they even speak, dress or act to match it.
If someone loves anime/manga/whatever Japan brought to this world so much that they are actually transcending into a personality that is not natural, then I'd call that person a weeaboo.
Never really been called one so far, which is pretty weird considering I've been a writer about anime, and spent maybe 20 000 hours watching it. Makes me think it has something to do with the way we dress. I never had a japanese twist on my clothes, nor did I go for the abnormal haircuts. If I had, maybe weeaboo would be something I'd hear more frequently.
