Dub vs Sub or both equally good?

dom_kun
ehhh i'm kinda a snob + prefer subs like the japanese speak with such emotion + their humor is so ridiculous i love it some animes you just HAVE to watch the dub / sub for, but more often than not i prefer the sub.

uh sub? except for animes like death note, cowboy bebop, samurai champloo and a few others.

Both are fine and it really depend on what you like, for example one reason I prefer dubs is because I don't have to constantly look at the bottom of the screen to follow the story. Sometimes I want to multi-task and it can make it really hard to do. Dubs are also great for understanding the characters emotions if you don't speak japanese, but it can backfire if the voice acting is horrible. It's just stupid that how you want to watch anime is actually a heated debate.

yeah it is stupid but i decided to discuss it here as i wanted to at least prove to my friend dubs arent as bad and be just as entertaining you know? and yeah i agree rinar sometimes its annoying to pay attention to the words looking down and not fully just watching it

100% subbed. I can't stand dubbed vocals. Sounds really off to me.

i like dub as i can realx my eye lids and feel the emotions regardless but sometimes like highschool dxd.. the dubs are so trash while the subs have so much to it... depends honestly :3

There are a couple of dubs I like. I prefer the FMA:B dub by far, and the Toradora dub is good.

Well, there's only a few shows i prefer in English like Panty & Stocking and Cowboy Bebop. Thing is though is I prefer putting subtitles on everything I watch because my hearing isn't that good.

I feel as though both subs and dubs are fine. While anime in the early 90s had its share of extremely poor dubs, that was ages ago. There are some really high quality ones nowadays. While not all of them are perfect(depending on the company handling the localization and other factors) I don't think they're anywhere as bad as what they used to be. I think that they should at least be given a chance and if it is a bad dub or just isn't you're thing, you can watch subs. While those aren't always perfect either(in terms of the voices or bad translations), it is an alternative.
