piercedrocker
im a guy obviously but ive always wanted to be a girl and up to the age of about 7-8 i was seen as a girl then something bad happened dont particularly want to say but i was forced to stop and ever since regretted it what should i do i really feel strongly about going through with it but i want some opinions first 1 would people accept me? 2 is it right in your eyes? 3 if a close friend of yours wanted it would you still talk to them?

I personally feel that gender is a social construction and who we choose to identity as is totally up to us. I have a lot of gender queer and transgendered friends who broke out the gender box and live perfectly healthy and happy lives. With that said, I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to be a girl and I think that you should go through with it! Society will constantly try to press, mould and define you to fit their "standards", no matter if you're straight, gay, in-between, androgynous, man, woman, rich, poor, etc. Unfortunately we live in a time where not everyone is as open minded as I am, so I think you should find a support system or join an organization where there are others that share similar stories/experiences. I wish you the best of luck!

People who are open-minded, and believe that love and friendship are a human experience and not a political or religious statement (anyone who matters) will accept and support you. And anyone who doesn't probably wasn't a good 'friend' in the first place.

I would accept you, I mean it's not like you're not human and like nine said, everyone has the power to choose their identity. Forget about societal pressures, because in the long run you're the only one whose gonna be living your life, so why not be happy?

I have held the longstanding belief that most otakus are more accepting of others because of a variety of common elements we all share. Thus, I would accept it if a close friend of mine, or even a stranger, confessed to me about their gender orientation or ...construct... or whatever the word for it is (I haven't covered this subject yet in my Communications 101 class).Personally, I feel that one should do as they please as long as it doesn't, like, HURT anyone. And being offended because you can't tolerate someone doesn't count as being hurt. If you can't find support in your immediate neighborhood, there is always a good Samaritan on the internet who is willing to be that for you.

I like to think people are inherently good, open minded, and are willing to accept u for who u are and who u wanna be. I mean i know if it was a friend of mine, than i would willingly accept them and welcome them with open arms. If ur not willing to open ur mind and see things outside of the stereotypical and biased, be it religion, political, or what have u, box that society likes to shove down everyone's throats as being whats "right", "popular", or "acceptable", then in my eyes u dont get the full experience life has to offer. As long as ur not looking to harm others, then u should follow what ur heart wants and go for it full throttle i think lol. And yeah i have to agree with kyetge, otakus are pretty much the most accepting of people out there i think ^^

I'd say go for it, my biggest regret I have is I waited so long to do the same thing because I didn't think people would accept me, i'd lose my family, job, etc, but I've had virtually no issues, though I do think the fact that I always pretty much looked like a girl anyways and thus pass very well helped a lot. I've know other trans people who didn't pass as well that did sadly have more issues however unfortunately :/

Good for you there’s nothing worse than living in false life.

why not be happy with yourself if that is what makes you happy go for it no one else should say anything because they arn't happy with themselves don't mean you shouldn't be
