5 Year Relationship Gone

lemonpiggy
Two weeks ago, my relationship ended. It lasted for five years. Which at my age (21) is about 1/4th of my life. I've come to terms with moving on. It just seems so lonely in a way. I always had someone to get their opinion, or tell my dumb idea for a zombie apocalypse survival plan. I have a few friends an family helping me, but its just different. I enjoy having an open future for myself, and rarely think about this until I am alone for a few hours. I find myself browsing Omegle with different tags, finding someone to talk with. As I know time will heal all wounds, but time takes awhile... Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. (My Kik username is Yuno_Gasia25 if youd like to msg me there) https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/a3/5e/30/a35e3090e6f4f6107117abf5f72c81c7.jpg

My six year relationship abruptly ended two years ago when I was 23. I understand what you are going through. It is lonely. You will think about it a lot when you are alone with your thoughts. Time may heal the wound, but it does leave a scar. A reminder of what you had. It will be that experience that you will judge all other relationships from then on. During your relationship, you have probably subconsciously changed as a person. Changing for your significant other is not bad, but now you get to explore facets of yourself that you did not realize you were keeping in the background because of your relationship. The danger is that you may embrace your discovery as a way to fill the painful hole that you now have without your relationship. So be careful there. There is not much else anyone can say. Just handle the situation as best you can, knowing that people care for you along the way. Be sure to not hold any grudges against her either. You cared for her for five years. I'm not saying you have to remain friends with her if you don't want to. But keep those good memories strong. Who knows what tragedy may occur down the line that you will need good memories to keep you going.

Be glad you don't live with your ex like I do.

Thank you so much Pocketto. Reading that really helped me, and showed me some things to look for. It gets easier by the day, but like you said Ill always have the fun times to think of ^_^ And Yaasshat, that sounds like a horrible time. Im guessing its due to living situations? I almost fell into that.

Fell into? I'd like to think love makes a person stupid at times, but I saw the signs and went forward....sooo... Yeah... Heart break sucks and those who complain about about never being in love, I almost envy them. Life moves on and love will come again, it's just the here and now that sucks. Luckily, I had a huge disconnecT (if you want to call that lucky), so it doesn't hurt like maybe it should. Living together tends to breed a lot of resentment, so at least you don't have that. It's even worse when you see them move on(and with someone so fast) so much quicker as if to be little what you thought you had. But, yeah, life goes on. As for me, going to the gym has been a huge stress relief, but my ex would definitely say and I agree, I still have a lot to work on. Take this time to reflect, learn and build yourself into a stronger individual. I'm planning on big things even if I'm taking small steps at the moment. They say that the biggest step in any journey is the first one.

I hear ya on the jealous of people that haven't loved >.< lol But I am on very good terms with my Ex-fiance. Its just the lack of someone to talk to/connect with. Fell into as in, if It wasn't for my parents helping me move out, I wouldn't have been able to afford it. I was very happy they helped me.

Keep yourself occupied Friends, Anime, Games, Ect. That is a long time to be with someone but keep in mind your still young (actually your in your prime) and their are millions of other women out there. You will not only find someone as good as your ex, You'll find someone even better than her.

Thank you Lynxware. I am doing that exactly, started a new anime, replaying old games for the nostalgia. It is a strange feeling of loosing the old but looking forward to something new.
