Was Hitler really such a bad guy?

I know Hitler's really controversial for most people. But, what do you think? I feel pity for the man in some respects. He's demonized so damn much, and most of it is propoganda, in my opinion. It's only logical to malign the enemy. I just think it's not fair to demonize Hitler, without demonizing the millions and millions of people who followed him; the children, working class fathers and mothers, etc. I think he may have done some bad, but he lifted Germany out of poverty, restored pride and belief in a nation after every other European power had sought to berate their greatness as a people. We don't talk about a billion other atrocities in school. I mean, Christopher Colombus was a dick, how come we only talk favorably of this guy who looked upon the folks of the West Indies with burning avarice in his eyes? Hitler was a patriot who thought he was doing right by his country. My main beef with his demonization has to do with putting all the blame on one sole individual rather than uniformly among the german people of the time. The excuse among historians for this is further demonization, "Hitler used his speech paralysis on them! Twas a hex!" As though Hitler were some kind of sorcerer and the poor, hapless German people were FORCED through games of the mind to accept his doctrine. I'm sorry, but that's tantamount to saying that Germans are a bunch of mindless windbags. Fair, or not fair?

Well, as a Ukrainian whose people got their ass kicked by both Nazis and Soviets, I don't hate every German or Russian. I mean, Hitler and his crew were pieces of shit, and yes, people are individually responsible for their actions regarding war crimes. But not every German. Most Germans were like you and I, regular people who had mouths to feed and work to do. Most were unable to stand up to the tyranny. But their were quite a few who actively participated in war crimes. I learned how to view the war based on my interaction with my Holocaust survivor at my church. He taught me to forgive the Nazis for what he did to my people and that no one is collectively responsible for the crimes of a nation, only individuals.

I can see what you mean i mean if he were to continue his reign the world would have been way different we would be far more advanced as a civilzation. yeah i understand what he did was wrong cause in no means is killing off people you dont like ever the answer had he not done that and had he not done whatever he felt like he would have still stood in power for years. He has done good for his people he gave them paid vacations and lifted them out of poverty i agree.

Hmm... Never was in the business of calling people good or bad since there's so much to a person. But given that he'd likely try to kill me if he had the chance, I'd have to whack im.

I don't think this is a smart question since we all should have the common sense to know almost eliminating a whole race to be able to build a kingdom you'll be the one best benefited from it's not something good at all. I think the best question would be "despite him being a tyrant-murderer, do you think the improvements and innovations he did during his time were good to the humanity?" Or something like that.

And to think, he could of been an artist. He really did flunk out of art school. So, what have we learned? Either be an artist or try out world domination if that fails.

Hitler actually wasn't that bad a guy. After all, he did kill Hitler.
