Not an unusual question to ask. I certainly wondered growing up between HS and college. My case was unusual as I was suffering from estrogen poisoning when I was a kid so I was kinda femmy and some of the girls I hung out with assumed I was gay. I just stopped trying to convince them otherwise after a while as it seemed futile. Worked out though because I got to see/learn quite a lot more then they showed the other boys they dated. ;p I was wearing feathers at the time but I was truly a fox in the hen house rofl...justice. I am such a bastard! In college I could only get a student job in the theater department as a tech at the time. I had lots of guys hit on me there and it did not excite me or bother me. I was attracted to some of them but I think it was more because they were very good looking and charismatic and popular. They were those type of people that naturally draw people to them; magnetic personality. One of my close friends was a DJ and was homosexual and reassured me I was straight in less than 2 seconds. He caught me unaware and grabbed me as I was coming down a ladder after hanging some lights. He did that classic romantic catching/leaning kiss thing. Ya, I somehow managed to phase matter and escape his embrace but bounced off the floor lolz. We kind of had a insider joke after that (no pun intended): "I love you man and if I was gay I would be so in to you." (pun intended). Working in theater corrupted me a little I think as I was quite modest and timid before college. Got in a 3way with a GF I almost married and wanted nothing to do with/see the dude and was glad it was over fairly quickly. When we had a girl with us it was sublime. We were all theater techies for 2+ years there and....quite close....what happens at a cast party stays at a cast party except the drama unfortunately.
