Is cheating acceptable?

@goku, if you don't have to be in love to be in a relationship, then why are you in one? because of lust? because of trophy (just to show off whether you have a good looking boyfriend or girlfriend)? or what? O.o many people cheats, it's rare to find someone who's not... and it's all in the mind... if the person can control himself then good for him, if not don't you think they deserve a second chance? :/

@Enelez, well true relationships need love, but they don't always start out with both people on a serious love level. Lust isn't always necessarily the thing that would keep two people together either. And in my definition cheating also involves emotional infidelity as well as sexual infidelity. As for having relationship eye candy, I think that is shallow. But some people really do cling to others for that. As for the whole institution of cheating regardless of wether you did it vindictively or out of lack of self control it is wrong. Cheating destroys trust. The act can be forgiven of course. But as for second chances it really depends. In the relationship I talked about earlier I didn't give a second chance because of the rift in the trust that formed between us. If you feel a second chance is deserved, don't feel bad about giving one. It just hard to do most of the time

It's not acceptable, but I think it's alright to break up who you're with if you're tempted to cheat, and be honest about it.. I'd rather know than catch them screwing someone else.

I personally don't like being cheated on (not acceptable, either side)... However, I feel it's hard to predict what someone would do behind your back when you're not looking. I haven't trusted people ever in my life, and I have always expected the worst from people. I haven't met anyone who's genuinely sweet or that cares enough about me so I learned to be hard as stone. Part of me still would like to believe in a fantasy but my fears and insecurities are what's holding me back from putting myself out there.

Not one bit. If you're thinking you're sparing their feelings by not dumping them, you're not. It's pure selfishness that leads to cheating. Never a single bit acceptable. If you want someone else, don't lead another on.
