What are good Starter Animes for newbs?

After I used some fo ur suggestions a friend told me he got hooked the most by animes which were a bit american or had similarities so american shows

I believe that the first anime you see is going to leave an impact on how you view anime as a whole. Therefore it needs to be good reguardless of how american it is. I like them because they came durring a time when there wasnt a whole lot of quality control outside toonami. Adv films and 4kids were notorious for badly dubbed anime. Toonami actually took care in airing only the best, even when it moved to adult swim.

my suggestion would be The devil is a part timer. Cause why not, but then again I'm also the type to recommend GTO because though the animation is slightly dated its a great show. Or Rurouni Kenshin because that intro is so badass.
