Mad Hatter

This is a poem I wrote a couple years ago I thought would be a good additive to this thread. This poem is copyrighted by the way, in case anybody decides to get so-called "creative" around here. *Glares* I wrote this poem after watching that newer "Alice in Wonderland" movie; the one with Johnny Depp in it. I was under the influence (drunk) so I got overly creative. Here it is: Mad Hatter- Long ago, I used to dream of company, A gathering, with just you and me, Where the white flowers rotted into the ground, A spot was placed; a chain unwound, Where I hoped to see you there, Instead I saw an empty chair... From dawn to dusk, I sway out of tune, Through summers heat, through winters moon, In my small clearing, the time has stopped, A Wonderland with caterpillars, and rabbits with clocks, With a lit cigar, familiars roundabout, I sip herbal tea from the kettle spout, The singing never ends, the laughter never declines, The landscape remains untouched from time, Clothes never dirty, no meals to prepare, I live in a tea party that was never there, The tables, the draperies and the desks, Its all an illusion, even the guests, Everything at my party you will find, Its all in my head, hallucinations in my mind, I would leave this world; to die and decay, But I have a motive, one reason to stay, I wait for the girl who never showed, As I alone age, my hair, my clothes outgrown... If one were of misfortune, and went the wrong way, On a certain time on Frabious Day, As the path unwind, you may find, A particular sight of the stranger kind, As a man of great generosity and of great sadness, I would invite you to come join me in my madness, Eat of the pastries and drink of the tea, Slip further away from reality... Call me a loon, unwound, a mess, Tell me i'm psychotic or that i'm depressed, In truth, I am merely a man who cant let go, Who has lost the only love he had come to know, I have my heart on my sleeve and my brain on a platter, For I am the one they call the Mad Hatter...
