Best Con Experiences

missallyesterday
I remember there used to be a thread about con nightmares. Haven't seen it lately. BUT, today while I was looking at Facebook I noticed Todd McFarlane talking about how he and Stan Lee were going to do a panel at the Phoenix Comic Con and it gave me a moment of memories! So! The point of this thread! Share your best con experiences! Share your favorite memories! There are a lot of people here that go to cons, so I hope to see a lot of good ones. I have a few so maybe I'll post about them all if this thread gets some response. My favorite con experience was SDCC 2011. I wasn't planning on going to con, it was completely sold out. I couldn't even get the leftovers! Then... THEN my favorite Jrocker of all time announces that he is coming to San Diego for Comic Con! T_T I found a way, however. I work with the steampunk convention Gaslight Gathering. It's a really good time. The best con in my opinion, unless you hate steampunk, and hate that everyone is dressed steampunk then you'd hate it! lol (I haven't met anyone who hates steampunk and I never want to!) They'd managed to get a panel due to the growing popularity of steampunk. SO! I got to go in as a guest of a guest. The guest being my friend who runs the gathering. :P Anyway. I got to go to the panel for my all time favorite Jrocker, Yoshiki from X-Japan, Todd McFarlane, and Stan Lee. They were promoting Blood Red Dragon and even were passing out copies of the comic. Anyway, my friend and I went to this panel and most of the time Stan Lee was cracking jokes about Yoshiki and Todd. Yoshiki even cracked a few about Todd himself. Yoshiki said "Look at you, you're not even a musician and you got a Grammy." then Stan was like "I deserve a Grammy." <3 I was happy that Yoshiki was making jokes, because an old bandmate of his, Taiji had just passed away a day or so before. Yoshiki definitely didn't look as cheerful as he usually did, and during Q&A he looked and sounded very somber. After the panel they all stuck around for photos. I think Todd and Stan make a great effort to keep the mood high for Yoshiki. I took a ton of photos and shouted "I love you Yoshiki!" cause that's what you do when you're snapping photos of your favorite celebrity! Right? lol He looked right at me during this, and he had a bit of a smile on his face, but he was trying to maintain a serious demeanor. After I had said that and snapped the photo, Yoshiki did the X for X Japan, and Todd McFarlane and Stan Lee Followed suit. :P I was happy to have gotten a photo of that.

My best con experience was at AnimeFest2012. It was the first convention I ever attended and what made it great was that I was able to meet my favorite voice actor. I wanted to meet him for a very long time but always thought I would never make it to a convention ( I guess there is truth to the saying 'never say never' ) My inner fangirl came out for a moment I was a little embarrassed for 1 second but he didnt seem to mind. He's a really cool guy...Chuck Huber. Another favorite experience happened at Mini A-kon back in February this year. I got to see him again but this time I got to have a one on one conversation with him. No panels, no other fans around. Just me and him sitting at a table together outside. To me that was amazing. These memories will always be special to me.

I have only been to one con thus far. Nothing really stood out other than how surprised I was to see such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Quite a few families showed up too.

Ah, that is cool! :) Okay... Another one... I think it was AX 2010 and I went to an outside con-related party for X-Japan, and they were doing a video shoot and stuff which was pretty cool. I turned around and saw a table with designs from my favorite designer ever. Naoto Hirooka. I was uber excited and went to check it out, then I turned around. I was kind of dressed Erololi. (Sexy Lolita. Shorter dress, high boots...) He was standing around taking photos. I didn't know whether to fangirl at him or just let him have his fun taking photos. I chose to just let him have his fun taking photos and not bother him. (whole thing about me being similar to Bartolomeo, I freak out when my idols are around, and if they notice me I try to hide!) Later on in con I walk over to his booth and freak out again since he was there. But, I wanted some stuff so I kind of tried to act cool and look at stuff from around the corner, when I hear a voice, "Hi! I remember you from the party!" So we ended up talking a lot and he started matching me up with clothes! I turned red and my friends came over and many photos were taken! It was such an awesome time...
