The great debate - Final Fantasy 6 vs Final Fantasy 7

Although it is an elementary question, the order of sale differs FF from Japan? The same dispute was carried out even in Japan.

Sales have nothing to do with the quality of a game. Promotion of the game is where the numbers come. PlayStation was just entering the market with a big name franchise they acquired from the behemoth at the time, nintendo. That, of course being Final fantasy. To show off this, they promoted the fuck out of ff7, amd thus sales went through the roof. You saw commercials for the game.. something you never saw for most super nintendo games. The only thing you had was nintendo power. Going based off sales is a moot argument.

FFVI all the way. The storyline was way in depth and was by far one of the longest games in the series before they started to cut corners. I've played both and i can honestly say, one playthrough of FFVII and i never wanted to play it again

The story of 6 was fantastic, and the best part, there was an indepth backstory for EVERY CHARACTER (Besides Umaro, but hes a yeti...), and it was the longest ff to date. :)

hmm I really don't recall much of a Backstory for Gogo either in FFVI. But yea my vote has to go to FFVI. It had story, likable characters, hidden gems like shadow's dreams, etc.

Gogo, while a mystery, is the same gogo from ff5. I forget the dialogue from 5, but something with going through dimensions. Ill have to look it up.

I would be a fool to say in its own right ff7 was a bad game. I most definatly put many hours into the game, maxing every materia, beating every boss, all the chocobo racing stuff... I loved it for the time. It was the first ff with minigames (besides the puzzle things in 1 and jp2), which was really the cool thing for me. But like I said previously, the story was just hand over fist better in 6 than 7, and that was the clincher for me.
