I agree bri_san12, the ending to Angel Beats was a downer. Let's see, Galaxy Fraulein Yuna when Ayako's sister "Genmu" choked her and ripped out her heart and left her for dead in Yuna's arms. When Shirley Fenette died in Lelouch's arms in Code Grass made me cry like a little bitch. When Tomoe Himura sacrificed herself to save Kenshin was such a downer. In fact that whole opening sequence in the OVA is really sad. Wolf Children when the father was discover dead by the mother, such a hard scene to watch. Also cried when no more Full Metal Panic came out since The Second Raid.

Although I never seen the anime, there was a huge tear-jerker moment in the Fate/Stay Night visual novel. The main character takes Saber on a date and tries to show her a life other than fighting, and at the end of the day they get into a big argument and it ends with her saying that she agreed to be his servant when he summoned her, but never gave her heart to him. She then said that the day was meaningless, and that he was a fool that should dissolve her contract with her if he wanted to stay being a coward and avoid fighting. Shirou ran away holding back tears in his eyes, saying she could do whatever she wanted without him. Her expression as he was running from her was so sad and empty.
