I have been a touhou fan for many many years and as you know if you are also know about touhou is that it is filled with cross dressing cosplayers. Men wearing dresses to be exact.
The thing I want to speak about is: Is it ok for a guy to cosplay in women's cloths? I think so but thats just because I'm a femboy who's lifestyle is of that nature. But what about those guys who don't live like that and to you girls.
Its ok for a guy to cosplay in a dress or skirt ? Or are there "unstated" rules lol?
I'm a huge touhou fan and i love it when guy crosplay touhou characters. Yes it is ok for a guy to cosplay girls. I have many guy friends who do and i have a friend who loves to dress guys in lolita. If you go to anime conventions you will find fellow male crossplayers. Ive seen so many and i always have to get a picture of them. Do to the drama and hate in the cosplay community it's been hard on cosplayers to do what they love and i know some few who get ridiculed and bully for wearing dresses and skirts.
It's cosplay,it's a hobby and it's for fun. I wish people would understand that instead of criticize
It's awesome that you like to crossplay, keep it up and also i love your dress :)
Wish i had seen this thread earlier. I am also a huge touhou fan. I even went to AWA to meet Zun in person. I crossplay too. I dress as Momiji.
Try not to care what others think unless you wanna take the hobby super serious and become the best trap. In fact be proud of it, the people that matter will be impressed by your confidence and naturally gravitate to you.
I think it's kind of silly to attribute a gender to a specific type of dress style because if it's comfy and you feel good wearing it then why wouldn't you?
Also, skirts are just another piece of clothing so of course anyone can wear it and shouldn't feel ashamed if they do.
As Jiko said, be who you want and ignore stereotypes.
Wear whatever you're inspired to wear. There's a reason behind why you want to and no one else needs to understand, though it'd be real cool if they did.
