Hey guys, my name is Oak, just started here on MaiOtaku, looking for my lady friend...So listen, Wizards Comic Con will start over here in September and I want to go there this year in cosplay for the very first time. I have an idea of who I want to go as but i would like your opinion too so if you would please, I would really appreciate it: Rin Okumura from Blue Exorcist...But wait, I want to be him as a Sword Art Online fan, going as Kirito. A jacket I have is a custom version of Kirito's long one, but it looks something like Rin's school uniform so hopefully you can picture it. Thank you for your help and stay gold!

Hi, Oak! Welcome to the site! Sounds like Wizard Comic Con is going to be fun. I hope you have a blast! Cosplay is fun, right? :P I'm going to give you my opinion as a not-so-otaku person that does cosplay and sees a lot of cosplay. You may not like it... But, I think your cosplay may have too much going on, and people won't know what it is. This shouldn't discourage you. I think it's very creative, and if you have fun, who cares, right? Some people don't recognize a character when it's done perfectly. Anyway, the reason I say this is because I am thinking of how you'd do this. Both Rin and Kirito have dark hair in a similar style, and their only difference besides costumes is Rin has pointed ears. Some people will just think you are cosplaying Kirito, and wondering why he's got pointy ears, others are going to just think it's Rin, it really depends on if they've seen both anime, one, or the other. I've seen neither, but I took a look at the characters and cosplayers dressed as them. So, if you do cosplay this, try not to be disappointed if people are confused or unsure of what you're cosplaying. This happens to people that do a single character, and do a good job, I feel badly for them. However if you're just cosplaying for someone to recognize your cosplay, you're doing it for the wrong reasons. Always do it because you enjoy it! Good luck!

Hey Miss, thanks alot for helping me out. Yeah, I kinda had a feeling that my idea with SAO Rin would confuse everyone in case they wouldn't know who I am...Even so, I still wanna do that for my first cosplay cause I want to and from what I've seen it's awesome! If anyone notices who I'm cosplaying, that would make my day, if not, oh well, I'm still gonna have just as much fun. Heck, it could be like my own personal cosplay (Eventhough technically it's not lol). I can relate to Rin, and I just saw SAO, and it was great. Cosplays that I've seen were all single characters, so I thought maybe I do something like a crossover cosplay instead. I got that idea from watching a video on youtube about a guy going as Deadpool wearing the Joker's purple suit. I'm just doing it for fun, that's how it should be anyway right? (Inhale, exhale.) Other than hat, thanks again for reading my forum, hope to hear from you again!
